Authenticated Infrastructure Marker

Definition

An authenticated infrastructure marker carries information that an autonomous vehicle can read and cryptographically verify before using it to govern an action at roadway, parking, curb, charging or gate infrastructure.

In context

The visual-marker filing includes contextual checks as well as authentication. The dual-layer filing adds a signed visible code over a retroreflective pattern read by LiDAR through the ink. In that description, both layers must verify under one signature and align on one marker.

Example

A marker associated with a parking instruction illustrates the distinction between reading an instruction and checking whether it can be trusted. This is a general example, not evidence of an installed marker or a claim that every autonomous vehicle supports it.
