What the filing covers

Reservation infrastructure that allows autonomous software agents to reserve and physically access parking, charging, and inventory units using verifiable credentials and offline-capable access controllers. I filed this because a reservation has to work at the physical entrance. The software agent arranges use of a resource; the site controls access to it. Verifiable credentials connect those two parts of the visit. Offline-capable controllers address entry when the controller is working without a network connection.

Why it matters now

A completed booking and an open gate are different events. A vehicle can reach the entrance while connectivity is unavailable. The site still needs to recognize the authority associated with the reservation. A useful booking must connect the digital arrangement with access to the physical place.

A real-world example

Imagine an agent booking a parking space before a vehicle arrives. At the entrance, the vehicle needs access to the place that was reserved. The controller is offline. The practical question is whether the reservation's authority can be verified there, where entry is controlled.

I bring the credential and the controller into that same decision. The credential supplies verifiable authority connected to the reservation. The controller handles access at the site. The booking record alone is only one part of the visit; entry is the physical step that follows it.

Consider a charging reservation in the same way. Finding a charging location, reserving it and reaching its entrance are separate tasks. The arrival needs to connect back to the arrangement made by the agent. That is why I treat physical access as part of reservation infrastructure rather than leave it as an unrelated problem for the arriving user.

Where it applies

The application areas include parking, charging and reservable inventory units. Park Graph connects this work to agent-mediated reservations. Across these settings, the same question comes up: how does an arrangement made in software become recognized authority at a physical site?

I would examine the visit from both ends. The agent needs to arrange the resource, and the site needs to recognize the resulting permission. Keeping those responsibilities connected makes the entrance part of the reservation process.

Permission to enter also sits alongside permission to occupy a particular space. A vehicle can pass an entrance and still need authority for a parking, loading or charging position. My related work on slot control and space credentials addresses those decisions within the visit.
