AI agents and liability
When an AI agent books, pays or signs for someone, a person or company still has to answer for the result. The law already has tools for this: agency, contract and consumer protection. What is missing is a clear record of who authorized the agent and what it was allowed to do.

What I see from the operator's seat
On Park Graph, an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT can find a lot, see the price and hold a space. I built that, so I had to decide who is responsible when the assistant gets it wrong.
My answer is a named agent of record: a person or company that authorized the agent, set its limits and stands behind its actions. The booking should carry a price lock, a signed link the driver confirms, and a log anyone can check later.
How courts and insurers treat these cases is still developing. Businesses can act now: write down what an agent may do, cap what it can spend and keep the record.
Quotable lines
“An AI agent can act for you. It cannot be responsible for you.” — Ross D. Blankenship, J.D., founder of Wins Parking
“Every agent needs a named human or company standing behind it.” — Ross D. Blankenship, J.D., founder of Wins Parking
“If you cannot show what the agent was allowed to do, you will have a hard time saying it went too far.” — Ross D. Blankenship, J.D., founder of Wins Parking
Five story angles
- Who pays when an AI assistant books the wrong parking space or hotel.
- What businesses should log when they let AI agents spend money.
- What an insurer may ask about a business's AI agents.
- Can an AI assistant agree to terms of service for you?
- What a signed confirmation link adds to an AI booking.
Frequently asked questions

Can AI assistants book parking today?
