Airport parking

My position

At America's busiest airports, the price gap between the terminal garage and the economy lot is wide. Drivers pay for proximity and certainty. Most never see the full set of posted rates side by side, which is why I publish them.

What I see from the operator's seat

I run parking businesses, and airport parking comes down to a few questions. Travelers want to know three things: what it costs, whether a space will be there, and how long it takes to reach the terminal.

The data shows the gap is real. At the median, a terminal garage costs $14 a day more than an economy lot. Over a week, that is close to $100. Some airports publish no rates outside their booking systems, which makes comparison harder.

Ride-hail, robotaxis and AI-assistant booking all use the same curb and the same garages. Airports that publish clear rates and accept reservations are easier for those systems to use.

Five story angles

  1. How your airport's garage and economy rates compare with the 50 busiest.
  2. Which airports publish no parking rates outside a booking system.
  3. Off-airport lots versus terminal garages: what a family of four actually pays for a week.
  4. How robotaxis and ride-hail change curb space at airports.
  5. Whether AI assistants can book airport parking today, and what to check.
